I was lucky enough to listen to William McInness as he told stories from his latest book “Holidays”. He was a very animated speaker and many audience members were able to relate to the tales of family holidays from the era of our childhood. I remember a trip to Bullen’s African Safari although it wasn’t as eventful as McInness’ recollections. I also remember travelling on a train for the first time when we went on a school excursion from the Qld/ NSW border to the big cities of Sydney and Canberra. These recollections are fond memories as I am sure they would have been for McInness and many of the assembled crowd.
These stories are examples of the content we would like to share on these pages as well as photos and images that may link us to a shared holiday experience such as the African Lion Safari; maybe someone out there has a photo or image to share. I would love to see what it really looked like because I am sure my memory pictures a much diffferent scene from the reality of that time.
