The Gladstone Regional Libraries have 20,887 borrowers and last year lent 462,628 books, audio books, movies, magazines. Gladstone is a town of readers! One Book One Gladstone will bring us all together.
In partnership with Brisbane Writers Festival and as part of the Read Around Gladstone initiative, Gladstone Regional Libraries will be presenting One Book One Gladstone.
The One Book One Gladstone project aims is to celebrate and connect Gladstone readers with a shared experience. Everyone is invited to read the same book. Borrow it from the library, download it onto your smart phone or buy it online or locally. One Book One Gladstone is for everyone!
The author selected to feature throughout this program is acclaimed Australian author, actor and TV presenter, William McInnes.
William McInnes has written novels, memoirs and non-fiction books. He attended the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and was made a fellow of the academy in 2010. He has a degree and honorary doctorate from Central Queensland University. He is probably best remembered for his television roles in “Blue Heelers” and, more recently “The Time of our Lives”.
For One Book One Gladstone this year, we have chosen William’s latest book, “Holidays” – a collection of humorous stories about holidaying.
As part of One Book One Gladstone initiative we’re planning book chats, fan fiction writing, blogging, holiday photography workshops and travel agent talks.
One Book One Gladstone will be launched by William McInnes on March 3rd 6:30pm at the Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre. You will also have the chance to hear him speak at Agnes Water Library Wednesday March 4th 10:30am, Boyne Island Library Wednesday March 4th 4:00pm and at Gladstone City Library on Thursday March 5th 10:30am. There will be copies of the book available for sale and signature at all these venues.
Borrow your copy from Gladstone Regional Libraries and start recalling your favourite holiday story, the holiday you would most desire, or the holiday you would like to forget!
